The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expressed gratitude to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for congratulating the party on its success in Bangladesh’s general elections.

In a statement, the BNP said the remarks by Pakistan’s leadership appreciating the successful conduct of the elections and the democratic spirit were commendable.

The party said the electoral mandate reflects the confidence of the people of Bangladesh and reinforces its commitment to inclusive governance, political stability, and national development.

The statement described the current positive momentum in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations as encouraging, adding that the BNP is ready to advance ties with Pakistan based on mutual respect, sovereignty, equality, and constructive dialogue.

The party said it hopes the two countries can open a new chapter of cooperation and work closely together for peace and stability in South Asia.

According to the BNP, stronger ties and regular engagement between Pakistan and Bangladesh are key to ensuring long-term peace and shared prosperity in the region, and it is keen to move forward with a constructive and positive partnership.
