Bad Bunny has shared the personal story behind his Super Bowl LX halftime uniform, revealing it as a tribute to his late uncle.

The Puerto Rican singer captured global attention with his performance at Levi’s Stadium, where fans quickly noticed the off-white “Ocasio” football jersey he wore, featuring the number 64 on the front and back.

Bunny explained that the number represents the birth year of his uncle, who passed away unexpectedly.

“I always dreamed of taking my uncle to a Super Bowl, and I couldn’t. He left unexpectedly, without warning,” he told Rolling Stone.

“So, during my Super Bowl halftime show, I decided to have him on my shirt.”

The 31-year-old performer added that he dedicated his performance to his late uncle before going on stage, saying, “I’m sure he saw it, he was present, and he felt proud of his nephew.”

While the show drew widespread praise, it also sparked criticism, with some viewers highlighting a political message of unity, summarised as “Together, we are America.”

President Donald Trump, however, labelled the performance as the worst halftime show.
