Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening friendly relations with Libya, stressing the need for continued dialogue and engagement.

He was speaking during a meeting with a high-level Libyan delegation in Islamabad. The delegation included Dr Osama Saad Hamad, Prime Minister of the Libyan Government; Field Marshal Khalifa Abu-al-Qasim Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces; and Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir were also present.

Both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and underlined the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation. The meeting reflected a shared desire to promote peace, stability and development at regional and international levels.

The Libyan leadership appreciated Pakistan’s role and expressed interest in expanding collaboration. The two sides agreed to maintain close contact and explore future avenues of cooperation.
