Under-19 World Cup: India sets Pakistan a target of 253 runs to win

India set Pakistan a target of 253 runs after being bowled out for 252 in 49.5 overs in the Super Sixes stage of the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup on Sunday.

Batting first after Pakistan won the toss and chose to field, India’s openers, Aaron George and Vaibhav Suryawanshi, added 47 runs before early wickets fell.

Suryawanshi and captain Ayush Mahatre were dismissed by Mohammad Siam in the same over, while Aaron George was clean bowled by Abdul Subhan for 16.

Vihan Malhotra, the fourth Indian wicket, fell at 109 after scoring 41 runs, caught by Ahmed Hussain.

Vedant Trivedi top-scored with 68 off 98 balls, including two fours and a six. Vihan Malhotra added 21, and Abhigyan Abhishek Kundu 16. In the late overs, Kanishk Chauhan scored 35 off 29 balls and Khelan Patel 21 off 15 to push India past 250.

Abdul Subhan was the most successful bowler for Pakistan, taking three wickets for 33 runs in 9.5 overs.

Mohammad Sayyam claimed two wickets, while Ahmed Hussain, Momin Qamar, Ali Hassan Baloch and Ali Raza took one each.

Pakistan, led by Farhan Yousuf, will now chase 253 run target to win, with India captained by Ayush Mahatre.

Speaking after the toss, Yousuf said the team would aim to perform at its best, noting one change in the lineup and the goal of defeating India by a big margin.
