Mayor Karachi inspects Hub Reservoir, cleaning work begins
1 min readThe Mayor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, visited the Hub Reservoir on Manghopir Road on Tuesday to review administrative measures for water supply and the cleaning process of the facility.
After more than forty years, efforts to improve the Hub Reservoir have begun.
The cleaning work of two tanks, each with a capacity of 7.5 million gallons, is underway and is expected to be completed before Ramadan, the mayor said.
The mayor said that first, one tank, then the second tank will be cleaned by removing dirt, adding that after the cleaning, water will reach pipelines in remote areas as well.
The mayor said the water supply will improve in the West, Keamari, and Central districts, noting the tanks had not been cleaned in over forty years.
“Due to soil accumulation, pumping was possible for only two hours. After removing the soil, pumping water for four and a half hours will cause excess water,” the mayor said.
