Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will co-chair the seventh round of the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue in Beijing, beginning on Sunday.

The two-day dialogue will review the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, identify new areas of partnership, and advance the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China.

The Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue is the highest consultative mechanism between the two countries. It provides a structured platform to assess political, economic, security, and people-to-people cooperation.

Economic and trade ties remain a cornerstone of the relationship.

According to China’s General Administration of Customs, bilateral trade reached $23.06 billion in 2024, reflecting an 11.1 per cent year-on-year increase.

Dar arrived in Beijing on Saturday evening. He was received at the airport by China’s Special Representative on Afghanistan Yue Xiaoyong and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China.

During the visit, the deputy prime minister will also attend events marking the start of the 75th year of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations.

Both sides plan a series of initiatives and commemorative activities throughout the year to highlight what officials describe as the “ironclad friendship” between the two countries.
