Nico Ali Walsh, grandson of Muhammad Ali, is carving out his own boxing career with focus, discipline, and respect for the sport.

While carrying one of boxing’s most famous names, he is determined to build his legacy on merit rather than inheritance.

The eldest son of Rasheda Ali, Nico, turned professional in August 2021 and currently holds a record of 12 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw, including 5 knockouts.

He lives a highly structured life, centred on training, prayer, and recovery, avoiding nightlife, parties, and distractions.

“For me, my grandfather is family first,” Nico said. “Every time I get in the ring, I aim to better myself and extend his legacy while creating my own.”

Inspired by fighters like Terence Crawford as well as Muhammad Ali, Nico emphasises discipline and long-term growth. “If you give up the social life, everything else — belts, success, fame — will follow,” he said.

He approaches boxing strategically, focusing on opponents in his path rather than chasing hype.

A practising Muslim, Nico also values fighting in the Middle East, connecting with fans and culture.

Recently, he dominated Dubai-based Ugandan boxer Jeremiah Sserwadda over six rounds, demonstrating control, technique, and composure.

“Boxing is thriving right now,” Nico said. “I love MMA, but boxing has history, great fights, and fans.

I don’t think the sport needs to change.” On figures like YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, he remained measured: “Fights like him vs. Mike Tyson are disrespectful to boxing.”

Nico Ali Walsh is building his career deliberately, blending respect for his grandfather’s legacy with a clear vision for the future.
