Gold prices dip in Pakistan as global market slides
Gold prices in Pakistan fell on Thursday, tracking a decline in the international market.
According to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of gold dropped by Rs1,700 to Rs441,462 per tola.
The 10-gram rate slipped by Rs1,457 to Rs378,482.
On Wednesday, the per-tola price had fallen by Rs1,000 to Rs443,162.
International gold also weakened as investors booked profits and stayed cautious ahead of next week’s US Federal Reserve meeting.
Global spot gold was down 0.5% at $4,179.71 per ounce at 0617 GMT, while US December futures fell 0.5% to $4,210.20.
The international benchmark was quoted at $4,191 per ounce with a $20 premium.
Silver prices also dropped in the local market, declining by Rs85 to Rs6,000 per tola.
