The federal government announced a reduction in petroleum prices, bringing some relief to inflation-hit consumers on Sunday.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, prices have been reduced by up to Rs4.79 per litre.

Petrol has been cut by Rs2 per litre, setting the new price at Rs263.45.

High-speed diesel has seen a larger reduction of Rs4.79 per litre, bringing its revised rate to Rs279.65.

The notification stated that the revised prices will come into effect from midnight and will remain in place for the next 15 days.
