Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon on Wednesday inaugurated pink buses for women on the Green Line track at Karachi’s Numaish intersection.

Speaking to the media at the launch, he said the Transport Department would be announcing more “good news” in the coming days, including the introduction of double-decker buses on Sharae Faisal.

Sharjeel Memon said that dedicated buses for women would also be included in the fleet of electric buses.

He added that the department was launching free customised bikes and special bikes for persons with disabilities.

Commenting on the BRT infrastructure, the minister said that disputes related to the Red Line project were close to being resolved and that political parties and the media would soon be briefed on the matter.

On the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the minister said it created a “win-win situation” for all provinces by ensuring equal representation in the Constitutional Court.

He said the court had been envisioned in the Charter of Democracy and that it would help expedite case disposal.

The minister said that critics were free to express their views on the amendment, adding that there was “nothing wrong” if courts functioned under the authority of parliament.
