In a recent media interaction at the Parliament House, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif addressed questions regarding the tragic Jaffar Express attack in Balochistan.

When confronted with the opposition’s claim that he was responsible for the incident, Asif responded, “If resigning resolves the issue, I am ready to resign.” He further stated that he has no objection to stepping down if it would address the concerns raised.

The Jaffar Express attack occurred five days ago when terrorists ambushed the train near Dhadar in the Bolan Pass, taking passengers hostage. Security forces launched a comprehensive operation.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack, labeling it a “cowardly act of terrorism,” and vowed to eliminate every last terrorist involved.

The incident has sparked a debate over accountability and security measures, with opposition parties urging government officials to take responsibility. Khawaja Asif’s willingness to resign underscores the gravity of the situation and the government’s commitment to addressing the security challenges facing the nation.
