Google Pay is expected to be launched in Pakistan by mid-March 2025, aiming to enhance the country’s growing digital payment ecosystem, media reports said.

The new service would allow Pakistani users to link their bank-issued debit and credit cards to Google Pay, facilitating secure and quick contactless payments.

The rollout would be supported through partnerships with Visa, Mastercard, and various local banks and financial institutions.

Users would be able to connect their debit and credit cards via the Google Wallet application, making contactless transactions possible at compatible payment terminals.

Preparations for the launch are in progress, with four to six financial institutions collaborating with Visa and Mastercard to meet the necessary technical requirements.

The introduction of Google Wallet, which supports multiple payment cards from different financial institutions, is expected to further accelerate the growth of digital payments in Pakistan, particularly through POS systems and e-commerce platforms.
