Squid Game season 2 sneak peek reveals Jun-ho’s fate and a two-year time Jump

The sneak peek also shows Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), more determined than ever

Netflix has released a sneak peek of Squid Game Season 2, revealing the fate of fan-favorite character Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun) and offering a glimpse into the future of the deadly competition. The video, released on Tudum, confirms that the cliffhanger from Season 1, concerning Jun-ho’s survival after falling from a cliff, will be resolved in the opening moments of the new season, premiering December 26.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed to Tudum that viewers will learn not only if Jun-ho survived but also how he managed to escape. The sneak peek shows Jun-ho, two years later, struggling to adjust to normal life after uncovering shocking secrets about the Squid Game, including his brother’s role as the calculating Front Man (Lee Byung-hun). Wi Ha-jun described his character’s journey as a “solo journey…exhausting,” as he fights to expose the truth without support or evidence.

The sneak peek also shows Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), more determined than ever to end the Squid Game, facing his own challenges. The video depicts his grim living quarters and hints at a tense confrontation with the Front Man.

Lee Jung-jae revealed his own anxieties about returning to the role, describing the emotional weight of portraying a “traumatized individual.” Lee Byung-hun, portraying the Front Man, described the upcoming face-off with Gi-hun as the emotional core of Season 2, suggesting a complex dynamic between the two characters. The Front Man, he explained, sees in Gi-hun a reflection of his own past self.

The sneak peek ends with a suspenseful scene, leaving viewers eager for the December 26th premiere to uncover the answers to the many questions raised.
