Severe cold wave hits the nation amid snowfall in mountainous regions
A severe cold wave is gripping the nation, with snowfall in mountainous areas marking the peak of winter.
In Skardu, temperatures have plummeted to minus 7 degrees Celsius, while Quetta recorded minus 4 degrees Celsius.
Other regions, including Kalam and Malam Jabba, experienced temperatures as low as minus 3 degrees Celsius, and Parachinar and Chitral saw the mercury drop to minus 2 degrees Celsius. Peshawar recorded a temperature of 2 degrees Celsius.
In Karachi, the temperature dipped to 10 degrees during the morning and evening hours. The intensity of the cold is increasing day by day, with dry, chilly conditions prevailing in the capital.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, most areas of the country are expected to experience severe and dry weather today. However, light rain and snowfall may occur in certain parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan later in the evening or at night.
