EV charging stations to be installed at all petrol pumps in Islamabad
In a significant move to advance its Electric Vehicles (EV) Policy, the government has announced the installation of EV charging stations at every petrol pump in Islamabad.
This decision was made during the fourth meeting on the EV Policy, chaired by Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain.
The minister directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to ensure that charging stations are set up at all petrol stations throughout the capital and praised the authority for its progress.
He revealed plans to provide free electric bikes to the top 120 students from the Federal Board, alongside offering 39,000 electric bikes and 19,000 electric rickshaws through subsidized loans to encourage EV adoption.
The meeting also discussed the development of 40 charging stations along motorways and national highways, emphasizing the importance of transparency through digitalization of the entire process.

Minister Hussain reiterated the Prime Minister’s vision to transform Islamabad into a model city for electric vehicle usage.
