Several road closure causes severe shortage of essential goods in Parachinar
The Thall Parachinar Main Road and multiple routes in Kurram district remain closed, resulting in a significant shortage of essential goods in Parachinar city.
Residents are facing dire conditions due to a complete lack of food items, medicines, fuel, and other necessities.
For over 20 days, fresh vegetables have been unavailable, and lentils have also vanished from local markets. Citizens are struggling to find basic supplies such as flour, cooking oil, sugar, petrol, diesel, LPG, firewood, and medications.
According to border officials, the Pak-Afghan Kharlachi border is currently closed to all traffic and trade, exacerbating the crisis.
In a bid to restore peace, a Pashtun national jirga is working to mediate between the conflicting parties in the region. An important meeting is scheduled today at the Kohat Commissioner’s office, where local leaders and members of the official grand jirga will convene.

The situation escalated following an initial attack in Upper Dir on November 21, when one group fired on passenger vehicles, prompting a retaliatory attack from another group, resulting in 43 fatalities.
Following this violence, local and provincial authorities facilitated a seven-day ceasefire, which has since been extended for an additional three days.
