Western winds have entered Pakistan, bringing the season’s first winter rainfall to northern Balochistan and contributing to a drop in temperatures. Snowfall in the mountainous regions is expected to persist from November 29 through December 2.

Heavy rainfall has been reported in various areas, including Gulistan, Shelabagh, Toba Kakri, Pishin, Khanuzai, Brashore, Kan Mehterzai, Toba Achakzai, Chaman, and along the Pak-Afghan border, leading to flooding in low-lying areas.

The Pak-Afghan border region is currently affected by the rain-producing weather system. In addition, light rain and drizzle are anticipated in Islamabad, Murree, the Galiyat region, and Pothohar from today until December 2.

The Meteorological Department has indicated an improvement in the smog situation in Punjab, with Multan ranking as the most polluted city.

As of this morning, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Multan reached 272, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded an AQI of 203, placing it second, and Lahore followed with an AQI of 216.

Light to moderate rainfall is also expected in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, and Sargodha. After the rainfall, a further decline in air pollution levels in Punjab is anticipated.
