Khosa reveals government was ready to release Imran Khan, but not immediately
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Latif Khosa has revealed that the government was ready to release former prime minister Imran Khan, but not immediately, and seeking over a week time for it.
“This is not a government. They sent a jet to bring Barrister Saif and Barrister Gohar here. [Adiala] Jail was opened at 8am, then parleys were run for two hours, where they said we will release Imran Khan and let’s discuss other issues on table but after a week,” he said while appearing on News Insight with Amir Zia which was aired on Aaj News on Thursday.
“The only difference was that we wanted it today. Why wait for a week or 10 days as it is a lollipop.”
To substantiate his point of argument, he said: “By making compromises you have turned it a garrison state from a police state.”
So far, none of the PTI leaders involved in the talks have spoken about the talks. When the PTI protests reached Islamabad on Tuesday, Saif came on a different news channel to speak about his meetings with Khan.
In an interview with Samaa, he revealed that the former premier agreed to protest at Sangjiani, however, Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi refused and insisted on marching to the D-Chowk.
Thousands of PTI supporters marched on November 24 from different cities to Islamabad for Khan’s “final call” to “ensure the release of party members and restoration of democracy.”
They managed to reach the federal capital despite roadblocks and disruptions to the internet and cellular services.
But the party called off its protest after late night crackdown on the party supporters. The PTI has claimed that the firing killed its several supporters.
If they are saying dissolving assembly, it can only be by CM’s discussion. If they want an attack on the federation then they will impose governor’s rule.
According to Khosa, November 27 was the “blackest day” in the country’s history. He did not agree with the impression that the party was ready for government tactics, saying that firing or setting a truck on fire or trampling the Constitution was not acceptable.
He claimed that people protested outside the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Poly Clinic hospitals in Islamabad to seek bodies of their loved ones.

While quoting the advocate general for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said at least 218 PTI supporters were killed and 1,900 people had bullet injuries. He added that people from KP took six bodies with them. “We will do our best for people who were killed and injured.”
In response to reports related to changes in party, he said that only Khan can take such decisions. He confirmed that Salman Akram Raja has sent his resignation to the party leadership because of “personal reasons.”
When asked, Khosa said that if the government should fulfil its wish for imposing a governor’s rule in KP. He warned that it would have dire consequences while referencing to 1971 when East Pakistan separated from West Pakistan “because of not recognising the right mandate.”
