Army given shoot-on-sight orders amid PTI protest in Islamabad
In a significant escalation of security measures, the Pakistan Army has been deployed in Islamabad with shoot-on-sight orders to counter increasing violence and unrest in the city.
This deployment, enacted under Article 245 of the Constitution, aims to assist civil authorities in maintaining law and order following recent attacks on law enforcement agencies.
The orders are intended to address anarchists and miscreants directly, with clear directives to use lethal force if necessary.
The military’s involvement comes in response to violent incidents, including a recent attack where miscreants rammed a vehicle into Rangers personnel, resulting in the deaths of four officers and serious injuries to others.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi indicated that these measures are a precautionary response to prevent further violence, hinting at the possibility of imposing a curfew if the situation does not stabilize.
