Mob of 200 monkeys storm Thai police station
In a bizarre incident in Lopburi, Thailand, police were forced to barricade themselves inside their station over the weekend as a mob of approximately 200 monkeys ran rampant in the area.
The growing and aggressive monkey population has long been a challenge for local residents, prompting authorities to construct special enclosures to manage the primates.
On Saturday, a large group of monkeys broke free and descended on the police station, prompting police captain Somchai Seedee to take precautionary measures by securing doors and windows to prevent the animals from entering and potentially damaging property or police documents.
To address the chaos, traffic officers and police on guard duty were called in to control the situation.

By Monday, several monkeys were still spotted on the roof of the police station, while local authorities worked to lure the animals away from populated areas using food.
Lopburi is known for its large monkey population, particularly around the Pra Prang Sam Yod temple, where the monkeys are considered a cultural symbol.
However, their increasing numbers have led to vandalism and conflicts with residents, prompting authorities to implement sterilization and relocation programs to manage the situation.
