Firefighters faced significant challenges accessing the hotel’s third floor
Mehran Hotel fire, third floor, fire brigade managed to control - Aaj News

A fire broke out at the Mehran Hotel on Karachi’s Shahrah e Faisal on Monday, prompting a rapid response from rescue officials, but the fire was put out by afternoon, rescue officials said.

There was a delay in the response time due to traffic on the road, the Sindh Rescue 1122 mission in charge told Aaj News.

“As per initial reports, the fire was reported on the second floor of the hotel. Two firefighting vehicles of Rescue 1122 and three vehicles of KMC took part in the operation,” he said.

Firefighters faced significant challenges accessing the hotel’s third floor, where the flames were most intense, due to thick smoke. But they managed to break windows to gain entry and tackle the fire effectively.

By 2pm, Rescue 1122 announced that the fire at Mehran Hotel had been brought under control, with cooling efforts now in progress. No casualties were reported.

The rescue operation involved four fire brigades and two water tankers to effectively extinguish the flames.

This incident follows a string of recent fires in Karachi, including a blaze in a multi-storey commercial building on II Chundrigar Road on Saturday, and a massive warehouse fire in Model Colony on Sunday evening, sparked by a gas cylinder explosion.
