Smog: Punjab asks private offices to move 50% workforce to WFH
The Punjab government has issued a notification mandating that private offices, franchises, and NGOs in four disions to operate with only 50% of their staff on-site.
The measure will be applicable to Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Multan.
The remaining 50% will be required to work from home. This measure, announced by the Director General of Environment Punjab, aims to mitigate the severe smog currently affecting the province.
The work-from-home order will be in effect from November 13 to December 31. The government cites a rise in smog-related illnesses and the contribution of vehicular emissions to worsening air quality as reasons for the decision.
Reducing traffic congestion on the roads is a key objective of this initiative.
