Internet personality Jake Paul expressed that he felt “numb” when American professional boxer Mike Tyson withdrew from their scheduled fight earlier this year, although the bout has since been rescheduled.

The YouTube star, who boasts a professional boxing record of 10-1, is set to face Tyson, widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight champions in boxing history.

Originally slated for July, the fight was postponed when the 58-year-old Tyson experienced a health scare due to an ulcer flare-up while flying in May. The match has been rescheduled for November 15.

As the fight approaches, Netflix has announced a documentary about this highly anticipated contest, which will be streamed live next week.

In the upcoming documentary “Countdown: Paul vs Tyson,” Paul opened up about his feelings upon learning that Tyson had withdrawn from their scheduled fight.

“When I received the news that he was out and not able to fight, I was just numb,” Paul said, “I was like, ‘I’m someone who likes a schedule and needs to know what I’m doing. This completely disrupted everything. There was nothing I could do; it was beyond my control.”

He acknowledged Tyson’s formidable presence in the boxing world, stating, “Nobody can tell Mike Tyson what to do, and if he wants to fight me, of course I’m going to say yes. This is the opportunity of a lifetime to fight one of the two most famous boxers ever—Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson.”

He further expressed his respect for Tyson, referring to him as a “killer,” and admitted he never anticipated a withdrawal from the fight.

Tyson, who last fought professionally in 2005 but participated in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr in 2020, is preparing for an officially-sanctioned pro fight against Jake Paul. The bout is scheduled for eight two-minute rounds and will allow knockouts, taking place at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

After Tyson withdrew from their originally scheduled match in July, Paul faced Mike Perry, a bare-knuckle boxer and former UFC fighter, instead. Paul emerged victorious in that contest, winning by sixth-round knockout.
