Pakistan priroritising security of Chinese citizens and projects, says Naqvi

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing security for Chinese citizens and projects, aligning with China’s vision of integrating development and security.

During a recent visit to the Chinese embassy, Naqvi met with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zidong to discuss the aftermath of a recent incident in Karachi where two Chinese nationals were injured due to guard fire.

Naqvi expressed deep sorrow over the incident, extending heartfelt sympathy to the injured and their families while praying for their swift recovery. He provided the ambassador with updates on the investigation and emphasized that ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens is a top priority for the Pakistani government.

“All possible measures are being taken to secure the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects,” Naqvi stated. He assured that protective measures would be strengthened to create a safe environment for Chinese nationals and affirmed that those responsible for the incident would be brought to justice.

Both leaders agreed on the necessity of formulating a joint strategy to prevent similar incidents in the future. Ambassador Jiang Zaidong noted that the friendship between Pakistan and China is continuously strengthening through collaborative efforts, highlighting significant progress in practical cooperation.

He expressed gratitude to Minister Naqvi for the excellent arrangements made for the upcoming visit of the Chinese Prime Minister.

Additionally, Jiang inquired about the health of President Asif Ali Zardari, wishing him a speedy recovery, and mentioned that Chinese President Xi Jinping had sent a letter conveying his best wishes.

The meeting was attended by the Interior Secretary of Pakistan and senior officials from the Chinese embassy, further underscoring the importance of ongoing cooperation between the two nations.
