Pakistan thrash Australia to reach Hong Kong Super Sixes final
Pakistan secured their place in the final of the Hong Kong Super Sixes after a commanding 5-wicket victory over Australia in the first semi-final played at Mong Kok.
Winning the toss, Pakistan elected to field first. Australia, batting first, managed 107 runs in their allotted 6 overs against the Green Shirts. Dan Christian top-scored for Australia with a blistering 42 runs off just 8 balls, while Jack Wood contributed 36.
Pakistan’s captain, Faheem Ashraf, took the only wicket for his side.
Chasing the target, Pakistan launched a ferocious assault. Asif Ali smashed 32 runs off 8 balls, and Muhammad Akhlaq mirrored his performance with a quick-fire 32 off 10 balls. Captain Faheem Ashraf (19 runs) and Aamer Yamin (24 runs) also made significant contributions. Andrew Fekete and Fawad Khan each took a wicket for Australia.
Asif Ali’s explosive innings included a remarkable over where he conceded 37 runs, including six sixes and a wide ball.
Pakistan’s aggressive batting display ultimately secured a comfortable victory, setting up a final showdown.
