Whats app issues major warning to users to stay safe from scammers
WhatsApp, the messaging application owned by Meta, has issued a significant warning to its users to be vigilant against scammers attempting to defraud them under the guise of needing help from a “friend or loved one.”
According to a report from a foreign news agency, WhatsApp’s warning states that these fraudsters can cause users to suffer losses worth thousands of rupees.
The warning explains that scammers often send messages by hacking the ID of a relative or friend, trying to trick you into handing over money.
Some may even claim to be a relative who has lost their phone.
These scammers might also attempt to deceive you by mimicking the voice of someone you know using artificial intelligence (AI), which necessitates caution.
