Islamia College Peshawar is facing a crisis as student organizations have effectively taken control, rendering the university administration and campus police powerless. On Wednesday, a group of students stormed the vice chancellor’s office, with videos of the incident circulating widely on social media.

During the protest, students shouted slogans against the vice chancellor and caused damage to office doors. Security personnel intervened to prevent further escalation, but chaos ensued, leading to an incident where a student tore a professor’s clothing. This prompted the Islamic College Teachers Association to file a complaint with campus police.

The Teachers Association reported that the Khalil Student Organization was responsible for the protest, during which multiple office doors were vandalized. They expressed concern over certain student groups who believe they are entitled to bypass college rules, refusing to pay fees, take exams, or achieve passing grades. The statement highlighted that any disciplinary actions are met with protests.

Faculty members declared that they cannot continue teaching under such conditions and threatened to boycott classes until the situation is addressed, insisting on their dignity.

The campus commandant was present during the teachers’ protest, where they demanded immediate police action against the involved students and an investigation into the administration’s negligence. They also called for a ban on outsiders from entering the campus.

The Teachers Association voiced strong doubts about the effectiveness of the police response, which caused dissatisfaction among the campus commandant. Meda access to the situation was reportedly restricted as well.
