Nicole Kidman, Harris Dickinson improvised intimate scenes in ‘Babygirl’
English actor Harris Dickinson has revealed that he and fellow co-star Nicole Kidman took a “freestyle” approach to their intimate scenes in the new erotic film Babygirl.
“We had discussions with the intimacy coordinator, and then Nicole and I sort of explored our own styles once we established the boundaries we were both comfortable with,” Dickinson told Variety.
The 28-year-old actor added that the intimacy coordinator played a “crucial role” in the process, asking questions about comfort levels and creative vision. “They facilitate the discussion delicately, ensuring that the actual scene flows smoothly without disruption,” he noted.
The film Babygirl tells the story of Romy (played by Nicole Kidman), a powerful CEO who embarks on a risky affair with a young intern, Samuel (Harris Dickinson). Unbeknownst to Romy’s husband, portrayed by Antonio Banderas, this dangerous liaison jeopardises both her career and family life.
For Kidman, 57, the project presented significant challenges. When asked about the most difficult aspect of making the film, she said: “The whole thing.”

She went on to add it was crucial for her to do the role justice by remaining open, raw, and available each day to explore the character fully.
Kidman stated the film’s requirement for complete vulnerability, stating that it needed to feel either “completely exposed” or it wouldn’t resonate with audiences. In her discussions with director Halina Reijn, she requested a safe filming environment, while also expressing a desire not to appear foolish on screen.
Kidman also revealed that the demanding nature of the role took a significant toll on her physically. She admitted to needing breaks during filming.
