Several surprises as PCB awards central contracts to 25 players

Only Babar and Rizwan given A-category contract

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued 12-month central contracts to 25 male cricketers for the 2024-25 international season, effective July 1, 2024.

These contracts are part of an agreement established last year between the players and the PCB for a three-year term.

Out of the 25, five players have received central contracts for the first time. They include Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Muhammad Irfan Khan, and Usman Khan.

According to the list issued by the PCB, only Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan have been awarded A-category contracts.

Fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah have been awarded B-category contracts while Shan Masood’s B-category contract is subject to him remaining captain.

Players in the C category include Shadab Khan, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmad, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Haris Rauf and Saim Ayub. Noman Ali’s contract is subject to fitness.

Aamer Jamal, Muhammad Waseem, Muhammad Hurraira, Mir Hamza, Khurram Shehzad, Mohammed Ali, Usman KhanIrfan Niazi, Haseebullah Khan, Abbas Afridi and Kamran Ghulam were given D-category contracts.
