Sindh govt announces 15.62% wage increase for industrial workers

The increase affects semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers across 50 industries

The Sindh government has announced a significant wage increase for workers in the industrial sector, with a rise of 15.62%.

The Department of Labour and Human Resources has issued a notification detailing the new wage structure.

The increase affects semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers across 50 industries. Under the revised rates, semi-skilled workers will earn a monthly alary of Rs38,280, skilled workers will receive Rs45,910, and highly skilled workers will earn Rs47,868.

This decision follows the Sindh cabinet’s approval last week to raise the minimum wage for unskilled laborers in the province. In August, the government set a new minimum monthly wage of Rs37,000 for all workers.

In a new welfare initiative, the Sindh Police, in collaboration with the National Police Foundation (NPF), has unveiled plans to provide affordable housing plots and interest-free electric motorcycles for police personnel up to the rank of inspector.

The initiative was announced at a gathering at the Police Headquarters in Garden South, attended by Sindh IG Ghulam Nabi Memon and other senior police officials. Irfan Zaman, Managing Director of the NPF, highlighted the foundation’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of police officers, stating that the NPF will contribute Rs. 50,000 towards the down payment for each plot in the first 2,000 units of the Police Housing Society.
