Police has successfully foiled an attempt to forcibly marry a young girl in the Kot Momin area of Bahawalpur, Punjab.

Authorities arrested three individuals, including the groom, as part of the operation.

According to police, the girl is approximately 13 years old, while the groom is 24.

The arrested individuals have been charged under the Marriage Act.

Despite the existence of a Child Marriage Act in Pakistan, enforcement remains weak, leading to a troubling number of forced marriages of minors across the country.
