A statement from the father and uncle of a girl allegedly assaulted by a security guard at a private college in Gulberg, has surfaced, clarifying the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In a video message shared on the social media platform ‘X,’ Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi accompanied the girl’s family. The father asserted that recent protests held in his daughter’s name are unfounded, stating, “Our daughter slipped at home and injured her back, which led to her being admitted to the ICU.”

In a video message with ASP Naqvi, the girl’s father and uncle — with their faces covered with masks said that “there has been no sexual assault” on their daughter.

He expressed astonishment at the protests and urged the public to understand the emotional turmoil families experience in such situations. “Those who have daughters can feel this pain,” he added.

ASP Naqvi addressed the public, urging them to refrain from spreading misinformation that can cause mental distress to families. She affirmed that the police would take action if a crime were reported, stating, “If such an incident occurs, the police will certainly register a case.”

She emphasized the importance of verified information for filing a case and noted that unverified claims should not disrupt law and order. Naqvi reassured the community that the Punjab Police treats crimes against women, children, and vulnerable populations with utmost seriousness.

The Punjab police have dismissed the allegations linked to the purported rape of a private college student, asserting that “there is no victim” connected to the claims that led to a violent protest in Lahore the previous day.

A group of students gathered outside the college to protest after rumors of the alleged rape circulated on social media. The protest escalated into violence, resulting in injuries to at least 28 individuals during clashes with the police.

Although the protest was temporarily halted, plans were made to continue the demonstration today. The police had arrested a security guard accused of raping the student and initiated an investigation. However, the suspect has denied the allegations, and the police have been unable to find evidence to substantiate them.
