Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is neither in police custody nor in the custody of any institution.

In a media talk following the funeral of the constable who was martyred during the PTI protest in Islamabad, Minister Naqvi said that those involved in the killing of the martyr will not be forgiven. He promised that those responsible for this incident will be brought to justice, and he expressed condolences to the police and the victim’s family.

Naqvi added Gandapur is not present at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, and the Islamabad police are searching for him. He said Rangers and police had raided the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House yesterday to arrest Gandapur, but he escaped through the main entrance, and there are photos of him fleeing.

The Minister mentioned that he received the unfortunate news late at night that Constable Abdul Hamid had been martyred. He noted that the martyr has one son employed at CDA, whom they will regularize, and they will also recruit his other son in Islamabad, along with providing a martyr’s package and a plot typically given to martyrs’ families. He stated that they aim to complete this process within the next two to three days.

When asked about Ali Amin Gandapur, Mohsin Naqvi clarified that the Chief Minister is neither in their custody nor in the custody of any Pakistani institution. He said they had suspicions about his presence in two or three locations, which led to their raids, and they are still maintaining roadblocks. Wherever he is found, the police will take necessary action, Naqvi added.

He further stated that when the raid was conducted at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, Ali Amin Gandapur had escaped, and they have evidence of this.

The Interior Minister confirmed that Ali Amin Gandapur is not in police custody or in the custody of any other institution; he has escaped for reasons unknown to him. He added that if Gandapur is within the limits of Islamabad, the police are actively searching for him.

Mohsin Naqvi added that if there is no way to resolve the situation peacefully or through negotiations, he would not negotiate with someone who attacks his home. He stated that whoever is involved in this incident will have action taken against them by the police, and they will be named in the case.

In response to another question, the Interior Minister mentioned that Islamabad would be cleared in the next few hours. He noted that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is wanted in connection with the events in Islamabad and that further details would be provided later.

It is important to note that yesterday, there was still no information on the whereabouts of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who arrived at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad. The leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has accused the government of kidnapping the Chief Minister.

In light of the Chief Minister’s alleged disappearance, an emergency meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has been called for today at 2 PM.
