Check if you appear on FBR’s active taxpayer list status after filing tax returns

Many people started searching for the link to see whether they are appearing on the active taxpayer list after filing their returns before the September 30 deadline, which has been extended till October 14. People can check it by sending an SMS to 9966 or simply visit the FBR’s IRIS portal.

Those who filed their tax returns should visit the Federal Board of Revenue website and click the income tax—IRIS option in the online services section on the right side of the website or they can just write FBR IRIS on the browser search bar to directly land on the page.

Once on the page, users will have to scroll down to reach the online verifications section. The first option is for income tax. The people have to put three details to check their status.

Firstly, they will have to select the type of parameter from the dropdown like NTN, CNIC, Passport No, or registration number. After this, they have to write the registration number in the box. Lastly, they have to enter their CAPTCHA appearing in a box. By clicking on the verify option, filers will know their status.

But the taxpayers from Azad Jammu and Kashmir only have to enter their registration number and CAPTCHA number.

People can also use their mobile phones to check their ATL status. They have to type ATLregistration number and send the SMS to 9966.

On Sunday, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb stated that the number of filers has doubled this year, reaching 3.2 million. Last year, there were only 300,000 new filers, while this year the number has surged to 723,000.
