PM Shehbaz’s schedule of meetings at UNGA sidelines revealed

He is expected to focus on Kashmir and Palestine conflicts

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has landed in New York to participate in the 79th United Nations General Assembly session, accompanied by federal ministers Khawaja Asif, Attaullah Tarar, Khalid Maqbool, and Tariq Fatemi.

During his address at the assembly, the Prime Minister is expected to focus on crucial issues, including resolving the Kashmir and Palestine conflicts. He plans to highlight the significance of global economic relations and advocate for necessary reforms in the financial structure. Additionally, he will present Pakistan’s stance on pressing matters such as climate change and Islamophobia.

In the coming days, Prime Minister Sharif has scheduled meetings with global leaders to discuss sustainable development initiatives. He will engage with the Pak-U.S. Business Council and Pakistani bankers to outline the government’s business-friendly investment policies.

Furthermore, discussions are planned with high-profile figures including the UN Secretary-General, Bill Gates, the President of the World Bank, and the Managing Director of the IMF.

The Prime Minister will also participate in a luncheon reception hosted by the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, Hassanal Bolkiah, to celebrate 40 years of Brunei’s UN membership, along with a dinner reception by Chief Advisor of Bangladesh, Dr Muhammad Yunus, commemorating 50 years of Bangladesh’s UN membership.

Additionally, he is set to have a one-on-one meeting with Dr. Yunus, as relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan have significantly improved since the removal of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

A special meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will also take place, where they will consult on actions to address the ongoing atrocities in Palestine. Meetings with heads of friendly nations are also on the agenda, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to international collaboration.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said in a post on X that he would “present Pakistan’s perspective to the world, advocate our interests, and strengthen international partnerships.”
