The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) formed a four-member committee on Friday to investigate a “threatening post” made by former prime minister Imran Khan on his X, erstwhile Twitter, account, sources said.

A case has been registered against the PTI founder for inciting rebellion against the government and state institutions through his X account. According to sources, the case was filed on September 13.

Sources added that the Cyber Crime Wing team went to the Adiala Jail to conduct the investigation with the PTI founder. The founder of PTI was summoned for questioning through the jail deputy superintendent.

But citing the need to consult with his lawyers, the PTI founder refused to participate in the investigation, as per sources. The investigative team is scheduled to return to Adiala Jail on Saturday morning for further inquiry.

The team will also question the PTI founder about messages of “rebellion and the associates involved in disseminating those messages.”

The post in question is “highly controversial and has raised significant concerns,” prompting the authorities to take action.

It was not immediately clear about the social media post concerned. But Khan made a post on X earlier in the day where he accused Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and accountability judge Humayun Dilawar of being anti-PTI.

“A small powerful elite dominates all the resources, power, and control of the country,” Khan said and added that the Supreme Court “is the only institution somewhat safe from their influence, and now it is also being attacked.”

The former prime minister reiterated his allegations against the accountability court judge and top judge.

“I say to the entire nation that they have to come out for a street movement to protect our freedom. Our movement is a jihad [struggle] for democracy. I ask the judiciary to stand up for the rule of law. No investments are coming into the country because of no rule of law,” he said and added that his party was ready for the protest.

“We will call for people to come out into the streets very soon,” Khan said and urged supporters to do not hesitate if they would have to fill jails.
