Israeli airstrikes in the Hama countryside of Syria resulted in the deaths of at least four civilians, according to Syrian state media on late Sunday.

The strikes reportedly targeted a significant military research facility believed to be involved in chemical weapons production.

In the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, Israel has intensified its operations against Iranian-backed militia sites in Syria, including strikes on Syrian army air defenses and personnel.

A local health official stated that 13 individuals were injured, several critically, with ambulances still transporting the wounded near the city of Misyaf.

Regional intelligence sources indicated that the military research center, which is thought to house Iranian military experts, was hit multiple times. The strikes also ignited two fires, prompting ongoing firefighting efforts.

Israel has not commented on the specific incidents, as is its common practice regarding strikes in Syria. Notably, the recent bombings follow a high-profile incident in April, when Israeli aircraft targeted Iran’s embassy, resulting in the deaths of seven military advisers, including three senior commanders.
