Security guard, passerby killed during Rs15m heist in Karachi
A security guard, passerby, and a suspected robber were killed during a street heist of around Rs15 million in Karachi’s Johar Mor area on Friday, police said.
The deceased were identified as Khawar Mubeen and Abdul Waheed. Police reported that civilians managed to apprehend two of the robbers.
The robbery unfolded when individuals carrying Rs15 million from a private bank were targeted by the robbers, according to initial reports. Upon receiving the report, the police pursued the suspects who attempted to steal the cash.
Two of the suspects were apprehended in an injured state after the confrontation while a third managed to flee into a nearby mall but was captured by civilians, they added.

Police claimed that a builder from North Karachi was ambushed by the robbers while carrying a large sum of money. They added that the security guard and the civilian were injured due to the suspects’ gunfire.
Following the shooting of the civilian, public anger flared, leading to protests near Millennium Mall. The demonstration caused traffic disruptions on the roads leading to the shopping centre from Drigh Road, as well as in the Johar Mor and Dalmia areas.
