More than 100 tourists were stranded in the Khanabadosh area of Kumrat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after heavy rainfall and flooding in the Upper Dir district severed ground access to the popular tourist destination.

Administrative teams have reached the affected area and were preparing to commence rescue operations, the assistant commissioner said.

Devastating floods struck the scenic valley on Thursday evening. Tourists and their families are unable to leave the area due to the influx of floodwaters from the nearby Kohistan region.

Authorities are awaiting assistance to evacuate the hundreds of individuals stranded in various locations throughout the valley.

Earlier in the day, 13 members of a family were killed after a landslide crushed a house in the Patrak area of Upper Dir. Four women, seven children, and one man were among the deceased.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall damaged several houses and resulted in the loss of livestock. In the Nara Amazai area, two houses fell, resulting in the death of multiple animals.

Houses collapsed in the Kuneer village and Sarai Nemat Khan and dozens of livestock were lost in Baisakh village.
