Suarez scores fastest goal in Inter Miami history
In a thrilling match against Cincinnati FC, former Barcelona star Luis Suarez etched his name in the record books by scoring the fastest goal in Inter Miami’s history.
Suarez, now 37 years old, put Miami on the scoreboard just 24 seconds into the game. After receiving a cross into the centre of the box, he chested the ball down and fired a powerful shot past the Cincinnati goalkeeper.
The Uruguayan forward’s early strike set the tone for the match, as Inter Miami went on to secure a crucial victory. Suarez’s brace helped propel his team into the MLS playoffs, opening an eight-point lead over Cincinnati in the Eastern Conference standings.
“It’s always special to contribute to the team’s success, and to do it with the fastest goal in club history makes it even more memorable,” said Suarez. “The entire squad put in a tremendous effort today, and I’m proud to be a part of this team.”
The win was particularly sweet for Miami, as it avenged a 6-1 loss to Cincinnati earlier in the season. In that previous encounter, Suarez and several other key players were absent, but the team was determined to make amends.
With the absence of Lionel Messi, who missed the match due to an ankle injury, Suarez stepped up and delivered a stellar performance, showcasing his enduring class and experience.
