Rawalpindi administration declares public holiday on August 26

The district administration of Rawalpindi has announced a public holiday on August 26 (tomorrow) keeping in view the Hazrat Imam Hussain’s Chehlum procession that is scheduled to be held.

All government offices, educational institutions, both public and private, will remain closed on Monday, according to the notification issued on Sunday.

The notification states that the holiday would be applicable to all schools and colleges in the Cantonment, City, Saddar, and District Rawalpindi areas. But emergency services and relevant departments will be exempted from this order.

Almost 4,400 police officials and 215 traffic police officials will perform duties on the occasion in Rawalpindi.

According to the administration, the routes leading towards the procession site will be blocked from Sunday night. Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education postponed the matriculation exam on August 26.
