Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has demanded an open trial for retired Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed, who was recently arrested for violations of the army act.

Khan, currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail, made these remarks during an informal conversation with journalists on Wednesday.

Khan asserted that the case involving General Hamid and himself was a local matter not a national security matter. H He argued that the trial should be open to the public, allowing the world to witness the truth.

“I demand an open trial for General Fayaz Hamid,” Khan stated. “This is not a matter of national security, it’s a local issue. An open trial will bring the facts to light.”

Khan further claimed that all cases against him have collapsed and that he had no contact with General Hamid after his retirement. He alleged that the May 9th riots were orchestrated to justify his arrest, and that he knew who ordered his arrest.

When asked who gave the order for his arrest, Khan responded, “The one who controls the Rangers, number 1.”

When pressed further to name the individual, he referred to them as the “king, the super king,” but hesitated to provide a name.

Khan also questioned the motives behind General Hamid’s alleged involvement, stating, “What benefit could a retired General provide me? These are foolish people who say General Faiz benefited me.”

Khan directed his demand for an open trial towards the army chief, emphasizing that the matter was not an internal affair of the military. He reiterated that taking a former prime minister to a military court would negatively impact Pakistan’s image.

In response to Khan’s statements, security sources dismissed his claims, stating that he had no authority to dictate whether General Hameed would face an open trial. They asserted that if Khan himself were to be tried, the proceedings would be open to ensure transparency.

The security sources further suggested that an open trial would reveal the truth about Khan’s actions and the events leading up to the May 9th riots.
