Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has alleged that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, founded by Imran Khan, has been spearheading an India-sponsored agenda within the country.

Tarar made these remarks on Sunday, following the revelation of PTI’s Information Secretary Raoof Hasan’s contacts with an Indian journalist. The minister claimed that these contacts have exposed the former ruling party’s ties with India.

Hasan was arrested on July 22 by the Islamabad police from the PTI’s Central Secretariat. The authorities alleged that he was heading a digital media cell involved in running propaganda against Pakistan and its integrity.

“The PTI digital media centre had become a centre of international disinformation, from where anti-Pakistan propaganda is run throughout the world,” the police had said in a statement announcing Hasan’s arrest.

Tarar went on to claim that the investigation into Hasan’s case has uncovered how the Indians have been bankrolling the PTI from abroad. He labeled the party as “foreign-funded” and accused it of causing harm to Pakistan’s foreign policy through a cipher.

The minister further alleged that the PTI’s social media cell was a major source of connections with the country’s enemies, and this is why the May 9 attacks took place. He condemned the party’s followers for fulfilling an Indian agenda while living in Pakistan, and accused them of bringing terrorists back into the country to complete this agenda.

Tarar also highlighted the “Faiz-Niazi-Bushra collusion” referring to the alleged ties between former ISI chief Faiz Hamid, PTI founder Imran Khan, and Bushra Bibi. He claimed that this collusion had done harm to the country for their “nefarious designs.”

The federal minister’s scathing remarks underscore the ongoing political tensions and allegations between the government and the opposition PTI party in Pakistan.
