Australian hockey player arrested for allegedly buying cocaine in Paris
Australian hockey player Tom Craig is in police custody after being arrested for allegedly trying to buy cocaine after losing the quarterfinal against the Netherlands in the Olympic Games men’s hockey event on Tuesday.
The Paris Public Prosecutor’s office confirmed that an Australian hockey player was arrested after officers witnessed an attempt to purchase cocaine in the ninth arrondissement.
“Police officers who witnessed a cocaine transaction at the foot of a building in the 9th arrondissement, on the night of August 6 to 7, arrested the seller and the buyer and both people are in police custody.”
The Australian Olympic Committee also confirmed that a player was arrested on Tuesday night, but said in a statement no charges had been laid.
The Kookaburras lost 2-0 to the Netherlands in the quarterfinal round.
