Actress Jennifer Aniston covered in fake oil while filming ‘The Morning Show’
Veteran actress Jennifer Aniston encountered an unpleasant on-set incident while filming the fourth season of the Apple TV+ series ‘The Morning Show’ in New York City on Sunday.
The 55-year-old star, who plays news anchor Alex Levy on the drama, was photographed being doused in a thick, tar-like substance while apparently filming a scene involving protesters. Aniston’s white shirt and pants were visibly stained and destroyed by the oily liquid.
‘The Friends’ alumna appeared visibly upset by the unexpected incident, which seemed to be part of her character’s storyline. ‘The Morning Show’ often tackles topical issues, and this latest plot development appears to be no exception.
The series, which also stars Reese Witherspoon as Aniston’s rival anchor Bradley Jackson, has earned critical acclaim, including several Emmy nominations this year for “Outstanding Drama Series” and “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series” for both lead actresses.
While the show is known for its gritty depiction of the behind-the-scenes world of morning television, it has also garnered a reputation for some more outlandish plot twists, such as sending Bradley into space and having her run through the US Capitol during the January 6 riots.
Aniston herself has expressed surprise at some of the more unconventional storylines, telling Variety in 2023, “Wow. Going into space, huh? Personally, I was like, ‘I would never do that! You’ve got to be out of your freaking mind!’”
