The couple was killed in the name of honor in the Sanawan area in Kot Addu, Punjab.

The victims were identified as Shazia Bibi and Tariq.

Shazia Bibi ran from the house a year ago, marrying Tariq as she had annulled her marriage with her first husband Tanveer.

Shazia’s family had also registered a case of kidnapping against Tariq, however, the case was dismissed after the couple presented a marriage certificate.

According to the statement by Shazia, her brother Dilawar, father Hashim and ex-husband Tanveer with other family members entered the house and opened fire.

The bodies were shifted to Sananwan Rural Health Center for post-mortem.

A case has been registered against the accused and raids are conducted to arrest them, as per Station House Officer (SHO) Shahid Rizwan.
