‘Fake’ officer arrested for robbing travelers on Islamabad-Haripur Highway

A man has been arrested for impersonating a police officer and robbing tourists on the highway connecting Islamabad and Haripur.

According to the police, the suspect was an employee of the police department who was using a fake name and number to rob tourists.

Makhniyal Haripur police station SHO (Station House Officer) has also been implicated in protecting the suspect.

On the orders of the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the suspect has been dismissed from the police department and arrested.

The involved SHO has also been removed from his post and suspended.

The Special Investigation Unit of Karachi Police has claimed to have arrested a group of suspected robbers for carrying out robberies while “disguised as Bykea,” a ride-hailing service, riders on July 23, 2023.

Similarly, police arrested on Monday a suspect who used Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi’s name in an attempt to pressurize policemen to release an underage female driver in November.
