Effective SOPs made for Chinese nationals security, Naqvi tells envoy
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has informed Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong that “comprehensive and effective SOPs” have been made for the security of Chinese citizens.
“A separate force called Special Protection Unit (SPU) is being created in Islamabad for foreign nationals,” he told him during a meeting on Sunday.
Naqvi called on Zedong in Islamabad. Both sides discussed Prime Minister Shehabaz Sharif’s China trip. They also discussed the promotion of Pakistan-China relations and measures taken for the security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz’s visit strengthened the friendship with China, Naqvi said and added that the Chinese leadership has always supported Pakistan.
He informed the Chinese ambassador about the measures taken to protect Chinese citizens across the country, including Islamabad. Naqvi also briefed him on the security plan of Chinese engineers and staff working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and other projects.
The interior minister assured the envoy of foolproof security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan. “The protection of the Chinese brothers who are working for the construction and development of Pakistan is the first priority of the Government of Pakistan,” Naqvi said.
“No one can create a rift in the eternal friendship between Pakistan and China and such a conspiracy will never be allowed to succeed. Pakistan and China are friends and iron brothers said the Chinese ambassador adding that China attaches great importance to relations with Pakistan,” he added.
The Chinese ambassador expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements made for the protection of Chinese citizens.
