Indian actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut, who won a seat in the marathon election, has claimed that a security officer slapped her in the face at the Chandigarh airport on Thursday.

“I am receiving a lot of phone calls from media persons and my well-wishers. First of all, I am safe. I am perfectly fine,” she said in a video that was uploaded on her social media platforms.

The Bollywood actor is all set to make per debut in the Indian parliament after winning a seat from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh by over 74,000 votes.

Ranaut received 537,022 votes in the Lok Sabha polls, overtaking her opponent from Indian National Congress Vikramaditya Singh, who got 462,267.

“The incident that happened today at the Chandigarh airport was with the security check. When I moved after the security check, then the second woman, a CISF officer, hit me on my face and verbally abused me,” the actor said.

“When I asked her, why she did this, she replied that she supports the farmers’ protest,” Ranaut said.

The BJP leader reiterated that she was safe and expressed her concerns over “terror and violence” in Punjab.

But Indian media reports claimed that the CISF constable, who was named as Kulwinder Kaur, slapped the Queen actor after she refused to put her phone in the tray at the security checkpoint.

In a video clip that surfaced on social media, the CISF personnel can be heard saying that her mother was part of farmers’ agitation when Ranaut disrespected farmers. Aaj News could not independently verify the veracity of the clip.

Reports added that the BJP leader had lodged a complaint with the CISF director general, Nina Singh, after arriving in New Delhi.

Why Kaur slapped Ranaut in the face“

Kaur claimed that she had been triggered by an old remark by the actor, according to the NDTV

“She gave a statement… that the farmers are sitting there for ₹ 100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there and protesting when she gave this statement…” Kaur said.

Footage showed Ranaut escorted towards a check-in counter at the airport at which point a fierce verbal spat breaks out.

She was travelling to Delhi and did not speak to press when she arrived.

In 2020, the Indian actor had to delete of her social media posts after a backlash. In reaction to the farmers’ post, she had written about an elderly woman seen at one of the protests and said she was “available for ₹ 100”.
