Raining Jane’s concert at Karachi Arts Council cancelled
The concert by a United States band, Raining Jane, has been cancelled, the Karachi Arts Council said on Thursday. It was scheduled to take place on Friday (tomorrow) at 7pm.
The institution said this in a Facebook post. The event was organised in collaboration with the United States Consulate General Karachi.
This is the second time their concert has been cancelled in Pakistan.
Earlier this month, their performance was also cancelled at the Government College University Lahore after pro-Palestinian supporters protested against the event.
The GCU literary society was holding an event of a music band from California consisting of female singers and musicians at Bukhari Auditorium of the campus at 2pm on May 2. The administration directed all female faculty members and students to attend the function.
But Progressive Students’ Collective protested against the event and did not let the band members enter the university’s hall.
